: Video for iChat

I've been using iChat to IM with someone across the country with a pc using Google Talk. I want to enable the video function, but even though microphone and video are checked, the camera symbol on the bottom of the Jabber window is unclickable. The question is, if she sets up her Google Talk to enable video, how do I turn my camera on live so she can see me?

Thanks!

Hm. I can't help with the Jabber thing, but you are facing some challenges in going cross-platform (Mac->PC) and cross-chat-client (iChat-->GoogleTalk).

Don't suppose you two would consider using Skype (http://www.skype.com) instead? It's rock-solid, and Skype-to-Skype calls are free. (Skype-to-landline calls are really cheap, too - that's what I use to keep in touch with my folks back in Canada, I'm in Mexico).

Thanks, I'll look into it. Seems to be a better idea.

For video chats Mac to Mac you can't beat iChat. I've tried Skype for pc to mac and I've found it OK some times and unusable at other times....

Another option might be one of the sites like Tokbox

TokBox: Talk to The World (http://www.tokbox.com)
