I use Apple Mail and my ISP is Shaw. I can't send email to anyone with a hotmail address. A little research on the net showed this is a common problem but I couldn't find a solution to use on my home computer. What is the solution to this problem? Thanks.

Try logging into webmail from the Shaw.ca site. If you can't do it from web mail you will know for sure the issue is with Hotmail and NOT at your end.

Also keep attachments very small.

What OS X are you running? This sounds like an old problem.

Running OSX 10.4.11 on my iMac and 10.5.2 on my MacBook. Mail is returned on both. Some hotmail addresses go through some do not. Some internet research showed this is a common hotmail problem.

Actual error message returned is:

Reason: Remote SMTP server has rejected address
Diagnostic code: smtp;550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable
Remote system: dns;mx2.hotmail.com (TCP|10.0.120.164|49693|65.54.245.40|25)

I have tried to send the email at least a dozen times today and the same error occurs. The address is valid, I have called the recipient several times. I have used both my Mail program and Shaw webmail. The result is the same. I had a similar problem last summer trying to send to a hotmail address.

There has to be others who have had this problem.
