F11. If it doesn't work on yours, then check the System Preferences-->Keyboard & Mouse-->Keyboard Shortcuts or System Preferences-->Exposť & Spaces panes, both of which will designate the keys you require.

i checked the mouse/keyboard prefs and F11 to access the desktop is 'on,' but all i can do is adjust the volume. i must use "fn" AND F11 to get the desktop, but isn't there one single key i can use to get it instead, like i had with Tiger?

any other suggestions?

Oops. Yeah.

Apple moved around the volume controls on the new keyboards.

You'll want to go in to System Preferences ->Expose and assign alternate keys for the "Expose" stuff.
