So I found one in CGY that I am considering...

for 700:
8GB iPhone (used 1 week but not compatible with work stuffs, so selling)
Stealth SIM w/software
Case
Headphone adapter
All accessories

I think the price is right, anyone else have thoughts?

You should wait for Firmware v1.1.3.

The price is obscene.... The phone costs $399, plus $100 for the TurboSIM clone, so $500. Case is maybe $30, headphone adadpter around $5. I guess it depends on what is meant by "all accesories".

I also think the asking price is a little high.

I bought my 1.1.2 iPhone from the States and have already paid $20 to get it to work as an iPod Touch now.

Just bit the bullet as I placed an order for a Stealth SIM.

I think on top of the phone itself, I am spending another $150 to get it to work.

So I guess for a used phone, $600 is more reasonable.

Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Price seems high. You can get unlocked iPhone for $450-$500 from Craigslist (at least in Toronto you can find them easily).

Hmm... well considering that i would end up paying at least 550 for the phone (or so it seems), 50 to 80 for a sealth SIM, that's 600.

It is a one stop shop, no shipping... with case and headphone thing... It's kind of a one-stop-shop solution.

To each his own.

Per the other thread, i paid 600 for the phone and stealth sim.

The phone was 470, and 130 for the stealth sim. The reseller made a slight markup on each (20 on the phone, and 30 on the sim). Phone was brand new, sealed in box.

I think 700 is slightly high for a used unit.

Question:

Do AT&T or the Apple Stores in the US sell the iPhone without a contract? Cause it is listed at $399, but isn't that the price WITH a contract? How do us Canadian buyers get around that?

You can buy it from an AT&T location without a contract. However, some people have run into issues buying from Apple Stores and AT&T stores. As long as you aren't paying cash/debit, you should be ok.

I just bought a $399 OTB 1.1.2 iPhone in Michigan, $30 for two cases. I paid for it with my Mastercard, showed my Ontario drivers license without any problems at all. Brought it across the border also without any problems.

I picked up a Stealthsim on eBay for $130 including shipping. Jailbroke and unlocked it myself and it works beautifully on Rogers.

Morals of the story: $700 for an unlocked iPhone plus the accessories you listed; the States is always closeby and easilly accessible; the US Apple Store fully accepts Canadian credit cards and no AT&T activation required.

The thing is that they only accept credit card payments. Some were able with debit (NOT interac) and some with gift-debit card.

Seems that there is no concensus and no generalised method.

I live in the US and even here, people are not sure !
