: NEC Monitor and Off/On

Just recently purchased an NEC Multisync LCD2470WNX monitor to use with my G5. Oftentimes, I'll either sleep the G5 or just simply turn the monitor off. When turning the monitor back on, it will come on and then turn off again, requiring another push on. Just this morning, after sleeping the G5 for the night, I saw the small DVI Input window thingy flashing. The G5 was no longer sleeping, but it took several tries to get the monitor to come on with the on button. Each time I tried the little DVI window would come up with "no input". It did finally come on but I'm getting a bit concerned. I never experienced this behavior with a monitor. What should I check into? I don't see any settings that would cause this kind of behavior. Could it be a faulty cable?

Nope. I still have the stock 5200.

Never did like Apple's sleep - seems the monitor sleep and the Apple sleep might be conflicting.

Turn off the Apple sleep entirely and see what happens.

Also happens without sleeping. Will occur just by turning the monitor off with it's power button. Will try your suggestion, though.

Something odd is happening with the synching then.
Try resetting the video card on the Mac....Command Option P R let it go through 2 cycles.
The shut down completely.
Then restart.

Just zapped the pram so I'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes. Thanks.

So far, so good. I did notice this morning that the screen saver was not functioning as normal, but instead, the little DVD input window was flashing on occasionally. Interesting.

Back again. Just woke up the G5 only to have the monitor light up for a moment and then go black. I never turned off power, either.
