Hey..
Just got a new ipod nano video....and spent a large part of last night trying to encode at least one video to try it out. (mostly for the novelty..the screens a bit too small..but its still cool being able to show small clips to friends and such)..

anyway..I have an xvid/divx file im trying to encode to work with the video nano. Ive tried video ipod setting,..doesn't work...when i drag it to itunes to put on the player it says:

the file was not put on the ipod because this type of ipod doesn't play that file..

..weirdly the file won't work with quicktime either after its converted. So I tried "h264 player" setting both 640 and 320....(its supposed to support both)

same thing...I'm about to give up and just use it only for music.....but maybe theres something im missing.

Try encoding with iSquint (http://www.apple.com/ca/downloads/macosx/ipod_itunes/isquint.html). :)

Agreed... or Visual Hub. These work every time and are hassle free. You won't be spending more than 5 minutes to figure them out

And, from the get go.. you should use HandBrake (http://handbrake.m0k.org/) to rip your movies from DVD for iTunes/iPod.

Hey..
Thanks for the quick replies..

Tried iSquint....which does produce a file playable in quicktime at least....
but when I drag it to iTunes still says "type of file not playable on this ipod."

Should the nano be able to play the same files a video iPod does?

I'm trying visualhub next...
