: What CRT should I purchase?

Looking to get a decent CRT monitor for my Powerbook. I don't have too much money to spend so can anyone suggest a decent monitor for a reasonable price? Looking for a 17 - 19 inch.

I use a 17" Lacie at the office. It seems to work well and was very reasonable priced at Future Shop, around $229 if I recall.

What kind of budget do you have? For 3-400 you could get a larger off lease crt something like 21-22". Trinitrons and those from Mitsubishi are always very good.

My budget is $175 - $250. I know it's not a lot but that's all I can afford right now. Macdoc seems to have some good deals on off lease Diamondtrons which I am going to see tomorrow.

I've had good luck with both the Samsung 753DF (http://www.samsungusa.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?eUser=&prod_id=753DF-Ivory) (~$200 new) and the Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 74 SB (http://www.necmitsubishi.com/products/home/mitsubishi_index.cfm) (~$250 new).

If you're interested in used monitors, Dell sells some through their financial services (http://www.dfsdirect.ca/) website. The prices are pretty good ($110 for a 17" Trinitron, for example) and the monitors do come with a six-month warranty. I know a number of people that have purchased monitors from DFS and they've been quite happy with them.

I recently bought a Samsung Syncmaster 19" 950b locally for about $250 tax in. Very clear and sharp. I've owned a 750s, 17", which is around $160 or less now, for 3 years without any problems. Samsungs have a good warranty and a smaller footprint than other CRT's. I like them.

Monitor Depot (www.monitordepot.com) has a pretty wide selection in that price range. I bought my 21" Samsung from them and it was a good deal. They have locations in Richmond Hill and Thornhill.

You could also check: http://canadamonitors.com/

They often have decent deals, specials but it seems many of the 17-19" are sold out right now. A friend picked up a Trinitron 21" there at a great price last year.
