I received a 250 G Western Digital drive that I want to install as a second drive into a 1.25G G4 bought two years ago.
That drive has dufferent jumper settings for "Master" and "Master with Slave present" which I have never seen before. There is also one more setting if it is the slave drive.
Can anyone throw some light on what the two different 'Master' setting are all about.

Obviously, the current drive, 80 G I think, is now the master. After I add the 250G drive to the Mac, I will be uisng it to boot from and for most of my storage and keep existing the internal 80 G drive more for backup and to access old files.
Does it make any difference if I configure my primary use drive (250G) as the slave and keep the 80G as the master or is it advantageous to make the 250G drive the master and the 80G drive the slave?

Thanks

It doesn't make a different if it's maser or slave on a mac.

Why they do different master settings is a mystery to me as well, but I can tell you to make sure and choose the right one as they work as advertised ;)
