I am currently trying to free up some room on my powerbook. I have lots of video that i am burning to to dvd's as imovie files. I think the os x burning program is making an image of the disc, then burning it. it takes almost 45 min to burn one disc. is there anyway to just burn the file without creating an image?

Burn it in the finder and don't use iMovie. Put in the DVD and wait for the finder to ask you what you want to do with it. Tell it to open it in the finder. You will see the dvd disk on the desktop. Drag whatever you want to burn to it. Then drag the dvd to the trash to burn it.
