Often on Boingboing.net, they post some links to mp3 sites. Like, for example:

Are these "streaming-only" or is there some way to download them onto my computer? on my browser, they just open up in quicktime.

i'm wondering because sometimes it will instruct windows users to right-click on the link to download them - this doesn't seem to be available to mac users. i'm hoping there is some easy way to do this that i'm ignorant of.

If you're using Safari, simply right-click or control+click on the song name and select "Download Linked File". Worked for me.

Thanks paully. I was using Firefox, and it didn't give me that option. I wonder if I can add it somehow. Whatever - Safari does the trick.

This is exactly my problem, 'cept it's with a video.

Usually when I have this problem I use curl in terminal to download the file, but for the life of me I can't find this video's actual url to download. I keep getting the little 4 kb streaming link.

Might anyone be able to help?

Site is here: http://www.arjanwrites.com/arjanwrites/2005/11/dutch_daze_dire.html

and the video is Di-Rect's Blind for You.

Toca Loca Nation - You can always try choosing "Save Link As..." in Firefox. However I much more prefer holding the option key when clicking on a link in Safari or Firefox. Both browsers will then download the link to your Download folder (default: Desktop)

LCML - The linked file is a streaming file, meaning it still has to get the video off of another server for actual playing. Since this most likely goes through a Window Media Streaming Server you'd be extremely hard pressed getting the actual video without capturing the stream.
