: Powerbook G3 (Pismo) Woes

Hello all,

Short and skinny is my Powerbook G3 will not start up - nada, zilch. The recent spell of problems started when the hard drive did the "click-click" of doom (luckily everything was backed up prior to it failing completely). I replaced the HD and reassembled the internals carefully, but when I plugged the unit in and tried to fire the PB up -- nothing.

The battery is still working fine (replaced earlier this year) as the test button shows it is fully charged. Could there be a problem with the internal PRAM battery? My PB sat idle for almost two weeks before I had a chance to work on it so I wonder if the PRAM battery has fully discharged. Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated. Also, does anyone know of a local outfit in the Vancouver area that would stock this battery?

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Ted

Hi,

If you didn't have any video concerns ( that would suggest logic board problems ) then the PRAM battery could be a culprit.

I would call Westworld 732 4499 in vancouver.
