You'll have to be more specific. Are you talking about a stand-alone machine? If so, yes there are a variety of machines that play different regions, as well as convert the PAL signal so it'll play on your NTSC tv. Where? I know of plenty in downtown Toronto but that doesn't help if you're in Newfoundland. Where are you?

check http://www.vcdhelp.com

they have a very comprehensive list. You probably need one that will allow you to bypass the region coding too, unless your PAL discs are region 0.

I normally head to the store (or website), make notes on a 4 or 5 DVD players that are there and in my range and then verify those against http://www.vcdhelp.com. So in reverse to the way that you did it :) Might be easier.

Loblaws used to sell one for $60 that was regionless NTSC PAL, MP3, WMV, DIVX, etc.

If you're in Unionville/Markham, just go to one of the Chinese malls, like Pacific Mall, and get one of those Grey market DVD players. No Warranty of course, but their cheap, region free, and convert PAL to NTSC. But pretty much any DVD player made by a company you never heard of will be region free and can convert PAL to NTSC.
