Roughly 4 times. I find FIreWire can get as close to its theoretical max as Ethernet can, and it is 400 Mbps.

so then the max. FW x-fer rate would be 1600 Mbps?

1600 / 8 = 200 MB/sec for FW ?
400 / 8 = 50 MB/sec for 100 Base-T ethernet?

- based on theoretical maximums

(8 bits = 1 byte)

No, sorry.

100BaseT ethernet = 100 Mbps
Gigabit Ethernet (1000BaseT) = 1000 Mbps (newer PowerMacs/PowerBook G4)
FireWire = 400 Mbps
FireWire 800 = 800 Mbps

thanx PB
i was kinda wonderin' about that...
so FW x-fer 400 Mbps = 50 MBps
cool

Theoretically anyway. You will probably find it will max out around 35-40 megs per second.
