iPad 4, along one edge, the screen is lifting and thereís a gap there.

It still works, but is this a big problem?

I bought this used so I donít know what might have happened to it.

No doubt its battery is distorting and pushing the screen up, and will probably continue and get worse.

Have a look here:

Maybe put some tape around the edge to keep some dust and stuff out until you get around to replacing the battery and sealing it up properly.

And maybe here if some glue will do the fix:

I googled and found this thread

Iím scared to even use it now. I bought it today so I think Iíll contact the seller. My son picked it up for me and didnít see anything wrong and I didnít either until I had used it for awhile. I first noticed that the home button wasnít responding like it should and looked further and there was that gap that I can get a fingernail under.

If itís a fire hazard, I want it gone.

Assuming its AppleCare has expired, and that it is the battery, Apple charges $129 CDN to replace the battery. Not a bad price for a genuine Apple sourced battery, if the iPad is worth it to you.

So Iím an idiot.

I just got this from the seller. She sold me a clearly defective iPad and accuses me of scamming her. Somebody is getting scammed, but I feels like itís me.

So where did you purchase it from, was it described as deliminating in the ad and what are the conditions or buyer protection from the place that listed the item for sale???

Also, how did you pay for the item and what protection does it possibly provide??

I bought it on a site called VarageSale. Itís strictly buyer beware. She did contact me again and will give me a refund as long as there is a police presence. I donít mind going to the cop shop to do this.

I think she wasnít aware that the separation was serious. If not for that, the price was good.

I guess that would be for you to decide whether the price was good enough for what you ended up with, and if you were going to either glue it together or replace the battery, Or as I suggested earlier, Just throw some tape around the edges to keep the dust out and to help keep it together.

As for the deal itself, I guess the VarageSale spells that out right at the start:
4. Rules for Buying and Selling
1. VarageSale is not involved in the actual transactions between Members - sellers or buyers. For further clarity:

All agreements made for the exchange or purchase of goods or services are made directly between Members. The VarageSale Platform is a marketplace in which the communication between sellers and buyers takes place.
