so this really seems like a stupid question but i need to create a bootable usb key from an iso image for a firewall - but there is no utility on mac that will do that.
i have tried disk utility, it refused to recognize the file.
any ideas would be appreciated.
:)

Maybe I'm not understanding your question properly, but as far as I know, one cannot boot a Mac from an image file.

It must be expanded and mounted to do so.

No cheek intended and it wasn't stated if you had already tried such searches, but it sure doesn't look like you've been exactly swamped with a plethora of replies. ;)

Have you tried UNetbootin (http://unetbootin.github.io/)? I know you can create Linux Bootable drives with it... I don't see why you couldn't pick a different ISO then a *nix distro using the Diskimage ISO option.

..... nevermind... yes you did. I got nuttin :)

What kind of Firewall is it.. from what I can see lots of firewall's have their own bootable USB processes

seems that the key i created on the mac will not function..
i guess i have to whip out xp and find an utility- unfortunately apple has dumbed down disk utility to the point of utter useless software

What about trying to use BootCamp Assistant to build Windows Install Key then just add you firewall boot commands and change the startup files?

Although this is for creating a bootable Windows 10 USB drive on a Mac, it may be possible that this procedure works with your ISO image
