: ATV Airplay Mirroring

Since changing computers and with it the inevitable upgrade to Sierra I've lost the ability to mirror the desktop through the ATV2 to the tv. I've run through the usual on-line check list:

-Boxes are properly checked in Display preferences.
-Computer and ATV2 are on the same wi-fi network

What makes this truly bizarre is that I can stream music and video from iTunes to the TV without a hitch. There are three other computers in the house running either Mavericks or Yosemite that can mirror with no problem at all.

I'm running 5.3 on the ATV2 (it's jailbroken) and upgrading the software isn't an option at this point. I've searched for an answer on-line but to no avail beyond what I've already done.

My options include;

-downgrading to Yosemite or El Capitan (I'm using a 2015 MBA so this may be a possibility)
-upgrading the software on the ATV2 and lose the jail brake.

Before trying anything drastic I wanted to put it out here just in case I was missing something.

Any ideas?

(should've posted in troubleshooting)

Is your computer or ATV still under AppleCare/phone support? Try calling Apple and getting them to walk you through troubleshooting.

Thanks for the suggestion! Just to wrap up this saga...

After spending about 3 hours over two days with Apple it was determined that Apple has discontinued Airplay Mirroring support for the ATV2 with Sierra.

I tried back stepping into Yosemite, which works perfectly with Airplay Mirroring, but the task of moving my documents and settings back two OSs proved to be too daunting. Too much work for so little reward.

So I have two jail broken ATV2s for sale.

AirParrot 2 | Mirror & stream content from your Mac, PC or Chromebook to Apple TV, Chromecast & more. (http://www.airsquirrels.com/airparrot/) may be worth a look. There is a free trial.

Hold your horses just yet, dwp!

I just happened to stumble sideways ( as always, while surfing the net) upon a possible solution to your problem:

Erica Sadun's "Airflick":

https://www.macstories.net/news/erica-sadun-releases-airflick-for-os-x-airplay-just-about-anything/

https://www.engadget.com/2010/12/20/airflick-turns-macintosh-into-an-airplay-data-server/

Apple may be doing their best to sell you new gear- as is their job.
Erica and many other volunteer devs with her are doing their best to expand the scope of your already existing gear.

Still in alpha (sic!), but I truly hope this will work for you!

Thanks for the information.

I decided to step back into Yosemite and all is right in my Airplay Mirroring world. Bit of a challenge to get there but worth the trip after all.
