: HTML question

I am a newbie to html and Javascript coding. I have a problem that one would think has a trivial answer.

On a webserver within a folder called acme (any company name) there is a folder called secret_code. I would like to create a file called index.html that also sits in the acme folder.

Now when the URL ...

is used then (of course) webserver/.../acme/index.html is loaded. I want the client to now type in "secret_code" and perhaps press a button to automatically generate the URL ...

What should index.html look like ?

Do you mean you are trying to password protect a directory?

Now why didn't I say that ? smile.gif

Yes I do want to password protect a directory. The way I am trying to do it is all "client" side. Also my "dream" index.html file is company and password agnostic. One just has to make sure the directory structure is right and even a non-programmer can password protect a directory.
