Hello,
We are running two OS9.2 machines in a pre-press production print shop. We want to install jaguar on one of the machines to handle some quark 6 files and also get the other users use to OSX. Is it as simple as installing OSX and changing from one start-up
sytem to another, or are there other issues to take into consideration before we do the install? We are using Jag. for now because it was purchased before Panther arrived.

Yep, just insert the CD, and when your Mac reboots from the OS X CD to install OS X 10.2, just select the drive (if you have more than one, select which one you want it on) and install away. You can install OS X on the OS 9 drive without issue, and be able to boot into either OS at your will.

in a pre-press environment don't do ANYTHING until you have run some sort of font utility
damaged and incompatible fonts are terrible things for X to handle
also, make sure that ALL of your data is backed up before your migration to X
what mac are you planning on using for X?
X performance is NOT what it is under 9, especially for pre-press applications
did i mention fonts?

Thanks Lars + Macspectrum,
The mac in question is a QuickSilver Single 733.
Yes you did mention fonts and I have read your insights on this board and majic.
I am familiar with the font problems in X.
We just want to use the machine to get familiar
with ten and maybe save down some Quark six files once in a while. We do not intend on ripping out of ten.
Thanks again.
