: iMac crashing in OS 10.2.8

Jan 22nd, 2004, 08:54 PM

My bondi blue crashes at different times...

By "crashes", I mean... turns itself off without warning...

I just installed a new hard drive.

Sometimes it will restart when I run Photoshop CS... Other times it will run fine.

It has also crashed while starting Classic mode.

It has also crashed while downloading updates.

Keep in mind, these functions work... sometimes...

What do you guys think... software, or hardware?

Do you think one of my RAM sticks might be kaputz?

OS 9.2.2 seems to be cool on it's own... but I havn't installed any extensive programs on it...

Will Panther run on this thing?

Thanks for your input ;)

This sound more hardware related. Did you add anything recently? It could very well be, as you say, bad Ram.

Just the hard drive... *shrugs* I had been using the drive for a few months in a PC previously...

Has the firmware been updated?

Firmware update (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60384)

If you haven't updated the firmware, Then it's possible that
that's what the problem is, If you run the installer and it says
you don't need it, Then it's already been updated.

You need to run the installer in OS 9 btw.
