: Applications Folder

I just installed an 80 gig HD in my iMac. I have partitioned it, with 7.5 gig as the section holding the operating system. Everything works well, but I want to know if I can safely move the application folder and all of its contents to the larger partition, since it is a large file and bound to get larger (holding all of the programs on my computer).

Hello,

I've read a lot of messages on foras speaking about this, the main idea is not to do.

A good Idea is to make another folder on another partition and set in all applications except :
- Apple applications
- Microsoft applications
- applications that needs to be in /Applications folder.

Every applications doesn't support migration of folder.

MM I'm curious: what's the advantage of having partitioned your drive the way you've described?

In order to run OSX on an early iMac (233), I understand that you need to give the operating system its own small (8gig or less) partition.
I think this is right.

I think this is right.Pretty sure that's wrong. This rule applied to the Beige G3 series only.
