Parallels 7 from vmware - cross grade deal - $30

Wanted to share with everyone here in case they were interested. It was a bit of a pain to first find it and then get it to work .. but if anyone already owns VMWare (any version AFAIK) and wants a deal here's the page you need:

Double the Speed for Half the Price

It was even cheaper than the standard upgrade price ($50) to go this route.

Kinda sucks that you can upgrade from VMware for less than from earlier versions of Parallels.

Any serial number for any version of VM Ware will work, but watch out for the scammy $6.99 they add on to the $30 for some Extended Download Service garbage.

If you have never owned a copy of Parallels before, will this upgrade work or do you have to own a previous version?

This is if you owned vmware before Sinc (this is even chepaer than upgrading parallels from an older version).

Ya that $6.99 extra download bit was annoying ... I keep backups ... so I saved myself the $7

Haven't used it heavily yet but it works on Lion and it works on Snow Leopard Server and it does indeed run Lion fine as a guest, install it with the InstallESD image and you're golden.

I think Sinc had the same question as me. If a person already own both Parallels and VMware fusion, can one still do a competitive cross grade? I.e. Upgrade from VMWare instead of upgrading from Parallels and save a few bucks.

Can't see why not, all it asks is for a vmware serial number and then it lets you purchase. I did own a pervious version of Parallels (way back when) that was linked to the same account and it didn't complain when I did it.

Sorry, but I am still not clear on this. I did own Parallels 3 at one time but tossed it out in favour of VMWare Fusion and no longer have a copy, thus I have no Parallels app to 'upgrade'. My question remains, does this give you a full working copy of Parallels 7 without having Parallels 3 to 'upgrade' from once I supply my Fusion serial number?

Can I use both fusion and parallel back and forth? until I am used to parallel? Thanks.
