Lacie Set Up Assistant not responding

I have an eMac, using OSX 10.5.8, and the Lacie Set Up Assistant is not responding. Specifically, it occurred after clicking on "Agree" to the License Agreement, and would not go onto the next step, but the rainbow wheel would show up and twirl away...and then nothing.

And also the suggested and supported method by Lacie themselves:

LaCie - Little Disk, Design by Sam Hecht - FireWire & Hi-Speed USB 2.0

"In rare circumstances, the LaCie setup assistant fails to function properly. As it usually isn't possible to run the setup assistant a second time, the drive must be repartitioned manually. The most consistent method to do this is to treat the failure as if it corrupted the disk, and reformat using your operating system's disk tools. "
