Apple used to have an edge over PC's in a number of foreign markets thanks to their superior font support, but over time Windows caught up and then Apple had a nuclear meltdown tempter-tantrum over gray market macs and wiped themselves out in certain markets by raising prices to discourage unauthorized imports back to the west.
This represented a ridiculously small number of machines in the grand scheme of things but they deemed it a worthy endeavor after Tesco in the UK began selling iMac's for £100 less than MSRP and a school board in Texas bought hundreds of Power Macs intended for sale in Latin America.
