Apple order - tracking for Canada only?

Has anyone ever got their tracking info, but have it for only Canada? Every time I've ordered from Apple, I've gotten a tracking number that shows info for US and Canada (or sometimes china), however the tracking info I got for my recent order says for "Canada only". It's for UPS, and so far the tracking number isn't working yet.

Not a big deal, just a bit odd (and disappointing - I like to track it all the way).

Yup. I don't know what you ordered, but I'm waiting on a 3.2Ghz Quad Mac Pro refurb which I think is coming from the US. I ordered it Tuesday evening, it was shipped on Wednesday, but didn't show up on the UPS site until it hit Concord tonight around 4:45. It's since left concord around 8:30.

I'm looking forward to this machine. I've got 12 Gigs of RAM and a 120 Gig SSD sitting here waiting to be installed.

That's a nice sounding rig ya got there!

Re: shipping/tracking, I wonder if they changed shipping carriers. Last refurb order I got was delivered by FedEx. Kinda bummed if they switched to UPS.. they're slower and their tracking sucks.

Guess it really is coming Monday... it's usually only a couple days. I was hoping to have my MBA for the weekend... oh well.

Ya, pretty pricey too, but I've wanted a Mac Pro for years. It's replacing a 3.5 year old 2.8Ghz core duo 2 iMac. I always went with the iMac for the cost effectiveness, but decided to finally do what I wanted to the max I could afford and hope to keep it for a long time with some upgrades.

Apple flips between couriers hourly. I assume they have it all calculated out and use the one that makes the most sense for each usage. I've had a single order of multiple items come through different couriers. That was a pain when I had to run around town picking up the items.

The last refurb I bought was 5 years ago and it came through "SameDay/RightWay shipping" or something like that. That was bad. Took over a week and these guys weren't really equipped for home deliveries. I wasn't happy to see UPS either, and I'm staying home tomorrow to be here for the delivery because otherwise UPS is a bother.

If I recall, express shipping would have been with FedEx but cost me $66. That might have gotten to me a day earlier. Not worth it.

I feel your pain on not having the MBA for the weekend. I really didn't expect to have my MP show up before the weekend (estimate was Feb 1-8) and I'm very happy to see it coming. I tend to have bad luck and most of my deliveries seem to come on a Tuesday after a long weekend. I know it's not that bad, but those are the ones you remember waiting for. I'm still crossing my fingers though for tomorrow. Just a few weeks ago I had some camera gear that was supposed to arrive on Friday but made it in to town too late for the local delivery and I had to wait days (it was New Years).

Didn't you buy one of the first gen MBA's and return it after a week? Giving them another shot?

It should show the full route. The "Canada only" part means the shipment is only going to Canada, if memory serves.

It doesn't seem to. I suspect Apple is using somebody else to ship to Canada and/or shipping in bulk and then breaking that apart to the individual packages which are then tracked.

Leaves us 'blind' for a couple days.

Actually, I've owned the first gen and second now. The first I did return shortly after purchasing because it was slow and kept overheating.

The second one I had (2009) performed well, but the 13" Macbook Pros were announced and I wanted one of those instead. I owned that MBP for 1.5 years then sold it to build a Hackintosh rig.

Now I'm getting the smaller MBA for school. I need to run a bunch of Windows apps, but I've tried the Netbooks and didn't like em (just returned the Gateway one I bought at FS). I figure the 11.6" will be perfect for my needs, since I don't like to always sit at my desktop at home.

In retrospect, I probably would have been better off just keeping my MBP and saving a bunch of $$... hehe.

It usually does, but for some strange reason this time 'round it doesn't. I'm pretty sure it means that the tracking information is only available once the package enters Canada... in this instance any way (and Atroz's).

This is what it says: "Shipped on: Jan 27, 2011 via UPS (FOR CANADA ONLY)"

Just give things a bit of time to get updated.

I ordered a refurb iMac for a client some months ago, she reneged and I called Apple within an hour to cancel the order but was told it was already on the shipping dock.

The tracking didn't show up until a day or so later, and the iMac arrived a few hours after I had closed the tracking window.

Likewise, an recent order from OWC (macsales.com) tracking finally showed up maybe 20 hours after the placed order, and 30 minutes after I had closed the most recent tracking window, the UPS delivery guy showed up with the order.

Not bad from Woodstock Ill to be delivered to Brentwood Bay BC in less than 24 hrs!!! I was impressed and I had placed the order about 3:00pm BC time!!!

Update. Left Concord at 8:31, got to Ottawa at 3:00AM and was "Out for delivery" at 5:23. I assume that just means it was on a truck waiting for the driver to show up.

Kloan, has your's shown up for tracking yet?

Shipper

I live in Victoria and everything I have bought has come fedex. The last purchase was a Macbook Pro, and it shipped UPS.
Fedex tracking is better, but UPS worked fine. It got to me, which is what matters.
