A good alternative to Spotlight

Does anyone have any suggestions as to a better finder app?

Are you looking for an alternative to Spotlight, or Finder? They're not the same.

Find Any File works very well. Has most of the options available in the elegant Panther search feature. Works even with Spotlight totally disabled. Works with MacIntel and PPC all the way back to Tiger. It's donation ware so no cost unless you choose to support the developer.

Find it here:

yes, I meant alt to Spotlight. Maybe I'm not using it right but I find it almost useless as it comes back with way too many suggestions. Is there maybe a good tutorial out there that explains a better way to search (using Spotlight).
I'll look around and post back if I find something.

Thanks for the suggestion of "Find Any File" I'll try that too.

I'm really enjoying Alfred - Alfred App

Far better than Spotlight for launching apps and finding documents.

you can also tweak spotlight to only show you certain results. look in the spotlight panel of system preferences and you can de-select any of the types of results you want

If what you say "part of mac" is true then I'm at a loss as to why I can't find it.

Like John Clay said, Alfred App is superb and user-friendly. The Powerpack is just under $20 and it rocks.

Plus, there's a Canadian on the team
