Had to share this. I shot some clips for my students' music projects on Friday with my new Sony DCRSX43. It takes a USB thingy and not a wire to transfer footage. I was a bit anxious wondering how the hell it would upload from a stick - AND what the format was. It had to be compatible for MovieMaker because that's all we have at school.
Hmm. I popped in the stickie. Opened up iMovie ('09). I think I clicked 'import from camera'. Magic subsequently happened. It automatically imported into iMovie - very neatly - 50-some clips. Pretty awesome.
I went to the Movie Folder, wondering if the iMovie Events Folder would contain these babies. Yippee. Yes. They were all .mov files. Good for iMovie, bad for MMaker. So, I chucked the rejected clips, and dragged about 30 good clips to Evom, converted them to .mpeg files. Good for MMaker.
Must say, that was a life-saver for me. I now know we'll be able to make movie magic the rest of the year with my Sony, with some help from iMovie and Evom.
Thought some other newbies could use this information.
