Without knowing for sure what the problem is it won't be much... that machine in pristine condition is worth maybe $300, the one you have could be looking at either:

- LVDS cable ripped at the hinge - cheap part but difficult (comparatively) repair - taking the display assembly apart can be an exercise in frustration. Worth fixing for resale to a qualified tech.

- bad LCD - expensive part - expensive repair (see above) possibly worth fixing for a tech, but not for resale.

- video problem on the logic board (bad connector, failing GPU etc...) worth about $50 - $80 in parts max

I would say personally depending on specs (optical drive type, HD size, case cosmetics, battery charge held, has adapter, illuminated keyboard etc...) and whether it's an A1095 or A1106 you might get between $100 and $160 for it. I wouldn't expect more than that in its present condition I'm sorry to say (and no that's not an offer, sorry again). You might try posting it in the classifieds section for something like $160 obo or auctioning it as a broken/for parts machine on eBay.

Oh, and of course as a disclaimer the above is just my personal opinion, I'm sure others will/may disagree with my pricing thoughts...

hope this helps a bit though

Thanks for this answer and info
I got the fealing that it is porbably a super stupid cable since I am using this computer 45 minutes each day and it goes well... but I do need to try to find the "exact" position for my screen which this is what frustrate me!
As I don't live close to an Apple repair store than I think I prefer just selling it like that. Having only 100$ for it is lower than I tough... but having 200$ could be better for me than having to repair + try selling it at 300$. I agree, finding a apple-tech buyer would be a good option here, lol.

Yeah I think it's 90% that it's the cable too, just because it's made better/worse just by moving the screen... don't want to guarantee that of course though

Check out laptopsbuyer.ca. You may not get top dollar from them but they make the process easy and you can get an online quote from them.

wow, thanks for this site
i got a quote of 275$... but there is no place to mention that wired to be replace so i am guessing maybe a 25 to 50 $ less from these guys.

Are these trustable ? Anybody tried them before ? Don't want to send my laptop and not knowing what's next of having a phone call saying "you know what, finaly we will pay only 1$ for it!" loll, like those "we buy gold" guys we all heard of.

Don't forget the cost of paying their technician to fix it, I would expect a significantly lower amount once they see the damage... but I've never used them.

That's probably your best bet, I think the biggest hurdle facing you is that while it's really likely that it's jut a cable there's still a chance that it's the logic board, and that drops the value of the machine sharply, and consequently affects any estimate a company like this can offer you. Hopefully they'll agree with our opinion and keep the offer high.

Yes, I used them. I had a broken powerbook. I got less than I expected, but there was a valid reason. I had checked off their boxes but didn't read the full descriptions they have. I choose what I thought was the best fit, but upon their correction I went back and checked and realized I should have selected a different box. I was a little upset that they lowered the value and sent the cheque without checking with me, but I wouldn't have done anything else anyway. I got something for nothing basically because I likely wouldn't have done anything else with it (i.e. private sale).

They ship you the box, you put your stuff into the box, drop it off with the courier and they send you the cheque. It was all pretty easy and quick.
