I have what might be a dumb question. I am planning on buying a new Mac laptop this summer before school starts up again the Fall, so I obviously want to take advantage of this deal. However, I recently got a new iPod Nano 16 GB for Christmas, so I don't really need a new iPod.. even an iPod touch.

Is it possible for me to purchase a laptop, and simply get the $259 rebate off of the purchase price of the computer? Or do I have to get an iPod in order to qualify for the rebate. It seems that I need to buy an iPod too - so could I buy a cheaper iPod and take the remaining rebate off the computer? I'm just looking for options.

I guess if worst comes to worst I will just get a free new iPod touch!

Basically they'll give you up to $259 off an iPod, but only up to the amount for the specific iPod. So for example if you got an 8GB nano, they would only give you a $169 rebate which turns into a free iPod

They're not going to just give you the money. If they were going to do that they might aswell just knock that amount off the price of the computer to begin with. if you dont want the new ipod just sell it.

This gives me an idea.............

My gf likes my Nano a lot because of its size, and has barely ever filled her shuffle,

so ill get her to get the classic, and trade her my nano...

It's a great deal. PC fanboys can bitch all they want about Apple prices, but this one leaves them in the dust. Don't forget you can also get another $100 off if you're a student (or a teacher). Last year they threw in a free printer as well. That amounted to, for us, a new MacBook, free printer, free iPod Touch, all for about $1049. Such a good deal, we bought two.

Too bad its $50 and not $100 and there is no free printer. I am in the market for a laptop, but I am really hoping that they update the uMB, the white macbook is now faster than the base alu MB and it has a FW.

The best part is if you already have an ipod, you can just ebay or craigslist the new one to further discount your Mac purchase
