iTunes issues (iTunes not responding)

I have no keyboard, just a mouse connected to this mac...but i control it all with my apple remote. All im interested in is using front row.

What's happening is that when I click on itunes (via front row), it sometimes tries to connect to the itunes store.. so when itunes is loading in front row, it is in a 'search mode'....then eventually tells me "itunes is not responding". I have to quit this...go into itunes (now using my mouse to unclick the error connecting to the itunes store message).

Is there anyway around this, without altering my setup? The mac is in my car, hence the set up situation.

Is there a way to disconnect the iTunes store?
