ibook G4 14" screen replacement

My daughter tripped over my ibook. Yeah, it shouldn't have been on the floor. So while the screen still works fine, the hinge is messed bent. the screen now tilts back further than it should and the bezel at the bottom of the screen is pulled away about a quarter inch. Also while i can close the laptop there is a lot of tension and when I push the button to open it it springs open.
Am I likely to have have the whole screen replaced and does anybody know how much that sort of repair costs?

The internal screen metal frame must be broken but if everything works and the screen plactic bezel is not cracked well only the internal lid frame has to be replaced. If you don't find someone to do this job in your area I can do it for you at a "ehmac member price" that means pretty cheap. I have many screen metal frame in stock for 12" and 14" models. To do the job the ibook must be taken apart to take off the screen assy then the screen must be disassembled. My advice would be to not open and close the lid for now since the damage to the frame can cause a stress to the cables passing throug the lid hinges and you could damage them in moving the lid.

Could you tell us the iBook model ? G3 or G4 ? 12" or 14" screen ?

I have replaced a few of these and it's not that hard but if your new at it my suggestion is to make sure you layout your screws so that they all go back to the correct spot and take your time taking it apart. The metal frame is very easy to break so it does not take much. If you were in the area here I could give you one for free and very cheap replacement fee

But ya, if you do it, just take your time.

Thank you for the suggestion, do you happen to know where a good place to get parts would be. Please excuse my ignorance as I am new to repairing things, but I want to learn so I guess it's all just trial and error.
