Hi :

Glad you downloaded new firmware. So you are running 7.3.2?
Or 7.3?
Both my iMac and my iBook are 7.3.
AS I said, if I open Airport Utility I get drop down message saying Firware Update 7.3.2 is available.
So click on 'update' and it just goes on and on, finally after ten minutes saying 'an error occurred'. So NO update.
And connection is very buggy.
Resets of Airport Express both hard and soft have not worked.. guess it is a faulty unit?

Now as for your ethernet by default...
On my iBook I have the following options in System Preferences/Network/ I just chose Airport!

An update (For what it is worth...?)

Did a 'hard reset' of Airport Express ... the Airport Utility if opened, still gives pop up message re 7.3.2 firmware being available ( which it will not load) but at least the wireless seems stable now?

I am running version 7.3?
I still don't know why it was 'hunting/dropping off all the time?
Rather disconcerting!
