Canadian Pricing Predictions

With new notebooks being released tomorrow (Tuesday, October 14th), any idea on what the pricing will be like here in Canada?

Remember, current prices reflect a Canadian dollar valued at about 95 cents. Today, our loonie is worth a mere 86 cents.

At that price, a $1999 MacBook pro in the states would be over $2300 instead of the $2099 it's priced at now.

Since Apple tends to reconfigure their exchange rate whenever new gear is released, it should be interesting to see what happens.

This is true. Hopefully the prices are not too outrageous because I was planning on getting one of the new MacBooks.

I just looked at the Bank of Canada website and our dollar was above 95 cents before October 1st. Hopefully they decided on pricing around that time. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully they did decide on pricing before October 1st, but who knows. Do you think the MacBooks will be for sale tomorrow?

They will show up for sale online (delivery date might not be right away), but they probably won't show up right away in the Apple Stores, and even longer in the Apple dealers.

I think they should be in store (Apple retail locations) by the weekend.

Last fall when the dollar was above par, Nikon brought out new equipment with the weasel words, "introductory pricing". A year later they're still the same and it will be interesting to see what happens with both companies.

Remember Apple has a Canadian website as well, so you can view the prices in Canadian dollars tomorrow. :P

Yeah, I'm worried that the currency drop will dig into the "aggressive pricing"
