iPhoto Print Order...

A friend of mine wanted a print of one of my orchid photos for their office wall.

I decided to try ordering a couple of 8" x 10" prints using the order feature built into iPhoto. Why not.

Below is a shot of what I received yesterday. The prints are ruined of course. So I complained.

A representative e-mailed me this afternoon to say Apple is reimbursing me.

Even with the reimbursement, next time I'll just go to a photo store at a local mall.

I blame Canada Post.

EDIT: Upon a second look, I see this was couriered not mailed. Still, I blame Canada Post.

Seeing as how the fault is quite clearly with the courier, why blame Apple?

I think you should give the company a second chance.

I presume Apple will follow up with DHL however the envelope was delivered by our regular mailman. Huh?

No, this isn't the direct fault of Apple, however the packaging is thin and pretty flimsy. Apple's other products ship in exemplary packaging but that seems not to be the case here. If the envelope were sturdier my prints would likely not have been so creased - they won't even look acceptable framed or laminated. In any case Apple has clear shots of the envelope & damaged prints and I was informed they're being "forwarded to the appropriate channels".

I want to try a local photo store in order to get an idea the cost and overall experience, as well as the print quality, before deciding to try the iPhoto thing again.

Your experience isn't reflective of the norm. I've had numerous print, calendar and book orders delivered from Apple in a completely acceptable state. But you have my sympathy and understanding.
