Price Check: PowerMac G5 Dual 1.8

I'm toying with the idea of selling my PowerMac G5. Any suggestions as to what's considered a fair price for this:

PowerMac G5
Dual 1.8 Ghz
4 Gb RAM
2x 250 Gb HD
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT DDL (256MB GDDR3 SDRAM)

and a 20" BenQ LCD Monitor.

It's in excellent condition, and works very well. I have the original box and CDs, books, etc. as well (for those who care.)

Would a $1000 be too much?

I was selling mine a little over a year ago with very similar specs, I was trying to get (if memory serves me, which it may not) between $1800 and $1400.

Then MacDoc contacted me and offered me a trade in deal that I couldn't refuse. I would talk to the Doc and see if he is interested, you might be surprised (maybe not) with a trade in deal that he might offer you.

(I doubt he will be interested in the monitor though.)

i just sold my dual 2.7 for $1200... could have gotten a bit more but but got tired of all the "you can get a new imac for....." replies....

with the advice of other ehmacers i checked ebay for completed listings similar to my tower and got a ball park to go by, you should try the same.

I would go for $900-$1000

An iMac 1.8 on eBay goes for about $700 so I'm sure this one you can get more for.

Plus, this G5 is in some ways better than the new iMacs. Like, more RAM, External monitor of your choice, expansion, and many ports.

A single 1.6 goes for about $600 so $900-$1000 with the monitor shouldn't be a bad price.

And be quick about it.

G5s are going to drop like a rock in value when Snow Leopard comes out.*

*actually they may shoot upwards in value for a short time as the dimwits in the Mac community have a panic attack. But after that, like a stone.
