help with headers on pages

hi, i'm writing an essay, and am having some problems using the headers on pages.
i can create a header, but i want the header on every page to be different, so the pages can be numbered. however, when i go to uncheck "use previous headers and footers", i can't uncheck it for some reason?

can anyone help me? thanks a lot!!

Hi,

If all you want on different headers/footers is page numbers try this:

Click into one of your headers/footers where you want your page number(s)
Click on Insert in the menubar
Click on Page Number

That's it. If you want to get fancier, you can then type " of " (minus the quotations) then click on Insert, then click on Page Count.

Then in your headers/footers you would have page x of xx.

Good luck,

Ha! That's funny, I was confused about this as well. You're using "P"ages.
