VCR dealers?

Hi,

I'm looking to add another VCR to my business, specifically the Mistubishi HS-HD2000U D-VHS - does anyone have contacts at electronics shops who may sell this version..or others? The big box stores will have the generic VCRs, but I need the higher end brands/models.

Any help would be great. Yes, I've googled, but rare these are so i'm hoping contacts might have a line on finding one. There are 2 from amazon, but I'd prefer new than used.

Cheers,
keebler

PS. i know this isn't directly 'mac' related, but i connect them to the macs so i figure it counts

I can tell you when I was selling VCR only a year ago.....

Everyone has stopped manufacturing VCR.... Panasonic and Sony, have not made a VCR on three years....

I would call local AV rental companies and ask them if they have any gently used VCR's

Good luck finding one!

Thanks Wyl. I think I'll be buying 2 or 3; using 1 and keeping the rest.
Cleaning the heads keeps the longevity, but I understand the technology is gone.

The good thing is that folks still have the tapes. Mitsubishi and JVC seem to be the only ones selling the high ends ones. We'll see how long that lasts.

Cheers,
keebler

I have had a bit of experience with the JVC VCR's.... They are not as industrial as you might hope. But the situation i but the VCR's into was 24/7 operation. Which would not be in your case.

If you are looking for a great VCR Player, I would recommend you look for a used Panasonic AG-DS840 (for example)

The unit comes with an hour count on the head, so when you are buying used, you can ask them to show you the hour count.

The last rental company i worked for had 3 used ones in the rental inventory, and had less then 300 hours on the head....

Have you tried contacting Mitsubishi directly. They used to be located in Markham (backed onto the Apple offices actually) but I'm not sure if those offices are still there. They should be able to point you to a vendor.

There's a used one available here. I know you were look for new but this guy has been a member of the home theater forum a long time and I'd put my trust in him over an Amazon deal if you can't find a new unit.

thanks andrew. I take it you are part of that forum? If so, can you post a msg asking him if he would consider a desperate Canuck? I tried to register, but had some issues. Will try again later, but thought I would ask if you are able to. I understand if you can't.

Thanks,
Keebler
