Add gift wrapping and free engraving to any iPod when you buy online.
Get free shipping on orders over $75 from the online Apple Store.
Is it just me, or does somebody see a point to this message just received from Apple, offering the education discount? Anybody else get this?

Is the free gift wrapping, engraving and shipping (over $75 US?) new, and is it only for education accounts?

When I saw the email subject line, "Our gift to you: The Apple education discount," I thought I was finally being forwarded one of those mythical $40 coupons. No such luck.

I got that message the other day - somewhat ironically it was shortly after I ordered an iPod as a Christmas gift for someone... and there doesn't appear to be an educational discount on iPods anymore.

I received one yesterday as well, and I'm a bit confused as to why. The Shop Now link takes you to the education stores, but you can get there via the Apple store anyways, so what is the point?

4cayman - It's used to only be "officially" available to students? Not sure.

I'm not sure if the email is implying either:
- hey, if you're a student, check out the deals at the Apple education store
or
- hey, even though you don't qualify, you can buy something at education store prices by following this link.
It's about as clear as mud what it means.

got one too. Haven't ordered anything from the Apple store since May. I have bought some music lately. No education ties for me.

apple's implementation of the educational discount im my experience varies greatly...i'm not sure why you don't get it on ipods anymore but you do get it on applecare for the ipod...in store my friend and i have gotten the discount on a macbook, an incase sleeve, applecare for ipod, and airport express and mini-dvi adapters...and i'm not sure each of those would qualify online

for anyone who was curious i asked an employee at the apple store why the discount isn't given on ipods anymore and she said it was since they dropped the prices, apple doesn't feel the discount is necessary. which i can understand.
i still got it and saved the tax on my wireless mighty mouse so i'm pleased.
