Well ok. That covers people who didn't get apple care.
What does this line mean?
"Apple will continue to evaluate the repair data and will provide further repair extensions as needed."

Well, that's good news, particularly since my serial number shows that my iBook is eligible!

Another thing : it means that Apple is (finally) admitting that there's a problem.

Haven't had any issue with mine, but I was considering getting AppleCare mainly because of this problem. Maybe I just save 400 bucks...

My iBook is covered too!

The program covers affected iBooks for three years after the first retail sale of the unit. Apple will continue to evaluate the repair data and will provide further repair extensions as needed.
So looks like you don't need to buy Applecare to get the 3 years for this problem only (which should be the only problem right? )?

Yes and no I would say. But I find it rather odd yours is not included : when did you bought it? I have the same model as yours and I bought mine at the end of august.
Serial number begins by (S)UV317, and Apple program covers (s)uv220 to (s)uv318... Guess I was lucky ...

Hey Ingenu,

I bought mine at the end of October. My serial is UV333
So its outside the numbers they indicate. So i assume it was one of the last G3 iBooks produced. I hope they fixed the issues with models with later serials like mine. I would of rather be included because now I will be uncertain of the whole thing and not have the sense of security like someone with an iBook that is covered. But then again I can see it as a positive sign, because they wouldn't of stopped the serial there for nothing. not like they just pick a lottery! I HOPE NOT!!

Cheers!

Will this mean there will be a bunch of refurb'ed units out?? The one that I originally bought with my ladyfriend conked out on the 1st power up, and all subsequent ones. They retailer took it back and gave me a new one. But, will the other ones be repaired and sold?? Might be an attractive offer if so...

H!

It should be, unless my cat's hair get stuck in the motherboard (they like the 'Book)!
