I finally got Panther and decided to run xbench before and after the (fresh) install.

Using version 1.1.3 of xbench I got the following:
10.2.8 score - 10.3.2 score

Result 46.57 - 44.63
CPU 50.61 - 23.61
Thread 57.65 - 57.57
Mem 23.54 - 25.31
Quartz 77.74 - 74.23
OpenGL 58.54 - 62.09
UI 64.99 - 104.22
Disk 39.25 - 54.24

Everything in bold went down. I'm really surprised with my scores, especially the CPU score! Why did it decrease so drastically? I saved my xbench score prior to the upgrade, and double checked and it is indeed that much lower

Result 60.96 - (46.57 - 44.63)
CPU 60.37 - (50.61 - 23.61)
Thread 80.47 - (57.65 - 57.57)
Mem 31.51 - (23.54 - 25.31)
Quartz 97.02 - (77.74 - 74.23)
OpenGL 65.05 - (58.54 - 62.09)
UI 120.24 - (64.99 - 104.22)
Disk 47.99 - (39.25 - 54.24)

even though my cpu is at 900 mhz I don't think my results should be so much better.

Maybe try running xbench one more time after a fresh restart with no apps or windows open. your cpu bench is too low!

Lars - well OS navigation is definitely faster. I attribute some of this fact to expose, which certainly lives up to the hype!

Adrian - I just ran xbench after a cold reboot and got 25.56. Yours is like mine when I tested with 10.2.8

Woohoo! I got 53.58 now!

I checked the energy saver options and it was set to automatic. I switched it to 'highest' and BAM! Now this thing is ZIPPY!

Funny I thought automatic setting = highest performance when my computer was plugged in. Oh well
