I have no idea, and am not privy to any deep throat info on anything Apple. According to the referenced article, "According to Apple, it has begun replacing the mainboard inside its MacBook Pros with a new revision." Given how hot the sales have been on the MacBook Pro, a safe guess would be that the Rev A Books would be flushed out of the retail channel within a month. But hey; an actual retailer might be able to provide a better guess on that.
If you're buying at a brick-and-mortar store, you should be able to check the serial number on the box of a MBP for yourself.
Sean's new MBP serial number is way below the numbers in that article. I'll keep my eyes open for what to do - any ideas are welcome.

From the article,
"According to Apple, the MacBook Pro should never become hot to the point of being uncomfortable. The representative I spoke to said "that should not happen. If it is, bring back your MacBook Pro and we'll give you an updated version."
If Sean's not happy with it, sounds like he can get it updated

Keep in mind you have to get Apple to authorize the dealer to swap it. Typically, Apple will send the replacement directly to the end user. They will however, send it to your local dealer instead if the dealer is good enough to swap it out of their inventory to get the customer their replacement faster.
