FCP upgrades

Well it looks like FCP is no longer available as an upgrade by itself.

I will need to upgrade to studio from FCP 4.5 the US cost looks pretty good but it does not seem to be available in Canada. I hope that changes.

Thanks for the information, this is something that I have been wondering about recently.

I'm going to jump the gun and guess that Apple will be selling a mid-range program like Final Cut Express for DVD authoring. There is no way that they are only going to have DVD Studio Pro as part of the suite.

I just found that out and I was just about to buy Soundtrack Pro. I was looking at the Apple Store site through my work's employee discount program and couldn't find it. FCP was there but no soundtrack when it was there a week prior.

There is no way I'm forking over close to $2000 when I wanted to buy a $300 program. I was debating between Peak or Soundtrack (I don't like Audacity) and decided upon Spundtrack because of price and I figured since it's made by Mac, it will integrate beautifully with the rest of the programs on my computer.

Price in Canadian Dollar

I found this from Apple Canada's web site:

Special offer: Final Cut Studio upgrades

</td> <td>Logic Pro 7.1</td> <td>$239</td> </tr> <!-- <tr> <td class="last"></td> <td class="last">Logic Express 7.1</td> <td class="last">$699</td> </tr> --> </tbody></table>
How to get these deals
After February 1, 2006, visit Apple.com again for complete details on this program, including an order form. Universal application versions of these applications are expected by March 31, 2006.

Since the price is so cheap (I have soundtrack pro) I will go Studio when it's available

Pollux - nice find!

I wonder if the academic version of Production Suite is applicable? Probably not though. I was also hoping to read something about Final Cut Express, but I guess that is also wishful thinking.

EDIT:
Here is the URL from Apple.ca explaining the upgrades

Soundtrack pro is (sad to say) quite pitiful. Go with something else and save yourself the heartburn LOL. I'm not a Logic fan either, but it's a lot better than Sound Track pro.

Can Logic edit audio, though? I have been looking at Wave Editor - looks nice, not a bad price.

My MBP is going to arrive in a week or so, so I decided to upgrade my version of Final Cut Studio to run on Intel.

In the crossgrade PDF form, it asks for a sales tax (based on shipping address). I live in Ontario, what tax would I need to apply to the $US49 charge? Can anyone help me out?
