ibook price check....why does nobody want my baby?

Hey guys, I've already posted an ad in the classified with regards to this but wanted some input here. I have my "Maxed out ibook" for sale at a price of $1600.00 (yes it might sound high but look at what it has!). Anyways I'm just trying to figure why nobody wants it? Price too high? I don't think so....but I just need a price check

*ibook 12"/1.33ghz G4 processor (under 2 months old)
*100gb HD 5400rpm (BTO)
*1.5GB RAM (samsung module used by Apple.ca for upgrades)
*Combo drive
*Wireless/BT 2.0
*Sudden motion sensor
*original box, cd's, cables, etc. etc. etc.

Also just to note this ibook is in perfect condition! The reason I'm selling is because I want a bit more in screen size (considering a 15" powerbook running a speed of at least 1.5ghz). I need the funds to finance a new machine. One more thing...if you're gonna recommend selling the ram separately.....what price should I set the ibook too?

Thanks guys

It seems fair, but it may not be widely understood that the warranty transfers along with the machine.

Also, it may be that most iBook buyers will not need the upgraded hard drive or RAM. This is something you understood and no doubt has proven useful, but your potential market may not, or may understand and not be sold on these features yet.

btw does this machine max out at 1.5 GB RAM because it has 512 MB built in, the way that the previous model had 128MB built in and therefore maxed out at 1.12 GB RAM?

On the new revision (the one I'm selling), 512mb is built onto the motherboard, I've added in another 1gb making the total 1.5gb. And yes the ram does cap out at 1.5gb.

I think it is a combination of too fair a price, not priced to sell fast, ram and HD while nice are overkill for some users, the coming new lineup (although a while away, still affects buying patterns) and the coming xmas season.
Good luck.

That is a sweet iBook and a good price but IMHO, your timing may be off. There are rumours that new iBooks (13" wide screen, thinner) may be coming in January. That and the whole Intel switch thing that may happen sooner than later (Steve sure likes to surprise us) don't help.

Another reason may be that more people now are looking for SuperDrive than ever before. Finally as mentioned already, your iBook may be too maxed out for a used market buyer.

Good luck. For someone looking for lots of HD space and RAM, it's actually a great value.

I bought a similar machine (80GB HD) new 3 weeks ago. Although you can't have too much disk space, I did not feel that going from 80 to 100GB was good value at $130.00, and I am only only upgrading to 1GB with third party RAM. The price of that package, before taxes, is $1,498. Your machine is sort of like the most expensive house on the street, so while your price is not unfair, you need a buyer who feels that the extra 20 GB and 512MB are worth the premium. I would have had a tough call choosing between yours (slightly used) and mine (new), even though yours is better equipped, because I also value getting a brand new machine.

Perhaps you can shave a bit off the price and also offer it without the RAM. It is a very viable machine with 512 MB. A lower bottom line should attract more attention.

I could do $1400.00 without the extra 1gb....I don't know if that would help...it's just that...I haven't even got 1 e-mail so far with regards to the system....only 1 person e-mailed about the ram alone.
