Newbie question: How to use the little white hook on the iBook's Power Adapter

I believe it's for winding up the wires, but exactly how do you use it?

there should be two of them
unfold them both and wrap the wire around them

I had my iBook for two months before I noticed there were two. D'uh. That said, I still never use it for winding.
