Star Wars: KTOR

Given the somewhat successful history of my Neverwinter Nights thread, I think I'll start one about the other game I'm currently playing on my mac.

Does anyone else feel that it seems to be easier to play through making Dark Side decisions rather than Light Side? It's easier to kill someone than to rescue him/her.

Anyhow, I'm doing a Dark game first then I will attempt to play through with the Light Side (though my evil nature will make this difficult)

The path to the dark side is more seductive.

Sorry but the force is stronger in the long run.
It migh be easier to just kill people instead of pushing them to attack you first but in the end game, you will have better powers.
But of course, playing with both side is the best suggestion. My only advice is to try to always stay on one side. If you want to be good, be it all the way, else you wont get all the awesome rewards. Same if you want to be evil...

Mantat, are you saying that the Light side is stronger in the end and offers better powers or the Dark side? Please clarify.

Aaaargh!!!!!

Ok, so the game ran decently on my iBook G4 256MB RAM, 1.2 Ghz, 32MB video, blah blah blah.
But: the navigation completely went to pot whenever my characters got out into wide open spaces with lots of NPCs.

I bought more RAM, tripled it in fact. THIS DID NOT HELP.

So, I'm guessing I got jilted on the video card side of things.
This is what System Profiler says about my video card:

ATY,RV280M9+:

Type: display
Bus: AGP
Display Type: CRT
VRAM (Total): 32 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x5c63
Revision ID: 0x0001
ROM Revision: 113-xxxxx-142

I cannot make head nor tails of it (except to note that my VRAM is up to spec for this particular game. Does anyone know what the problem is?

KOTOR is pretty graphic intensive, and RAM or VRAM really has little to nothing to do with it. Rather, you'll need a decently modern GPU, and the Radeon 9200 won't cut it. I would suggest Radeon 9600 and up (the GeForce FX200 _might_ be playable).

You have an ATI Radeon 9200 in the iBook, Squisherton Squirk. From this thread http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...ight=star+wars , it sounds like the 9200 doesn't have good enough pixel & vertex shaders, which the game makes heavy use of.

Sigh.

Alright, anyone know how much it'll cost me to upgrade my video card?
