intel and amd vs. ibm - processor war

when I run Seti... it takes my 3.0GHz 512MB PC w/ Win XP Pro SP2 just under 3 hrs to complete 1 work unit. It takes my dual G5 1.8 1GB w/ 10.3.9 just over 6 hrs to complete 1 work unit. My 1GHz Athlon 384MB PC w/ Win 2k about 5 hrs for 1 work unit.

The current apple processors are underpowered and overworked/overheated for the power they produce...

That's interesting. Anyone else have Windows boxes of the same type which they can do actual tests on? Really doesn't matter the Application being used, because.. to be fair.. no software is ported the same. I've always had the idea that a lot of companies even half-assed a lot of ports. In the light, I wonder if any of this will change?
