widgets prefs? turn off ripple?

anyone know how to turn off that silly ripple effect that a widget makes when you open it? i've been going a little bonkers trying to find the pref.

The Librarian - AFAIK there is no preference for the ripple as it acts justs like the other Quartz animations in OS X, but this one requires a Core Image supported video card. There may be a hidden preference in the Dashboard .plist, but no one has found it yet.

thank cheal. yeah, i've been finding this out slowly but surely this afternoon. i vote for more user control over the dashboard. not a big fan over here...and "cool" effects like the ripple do little for me other than bug me.

HowEver, cute. I don't have a "good enough" video card to get the ripple either it seems, although it worsk in iPhoto and Keynote??
