powerbook battery tips?

hi,

does anyone know the best way to care for a laptop battery?
should i leave my battery in when i have the ac adaptor hooked to an outlet (even if the battery is fully charged)?
or should i remove the battery whenever i plug the laptop to the outlet?

i have been told that plugging in a laptop to an outlet when the battery is already fully charged, will limit the life of the battery. is this true?

i know that having the comptuer sleep overnight instead of turning it off is the better route to go in most cases, but should i keep the battery in even when fully charged?

the reason i ask is that i like to move around and take advantage of the wireless capabilities of my laptop and I would prefer to leave it on all the time. But if I need to swap out the battery whenever it's fully charged, or put the battery back in when i need to move the laptop, then i will have to turn the computer off to do so...

want the best for my baby

Powerbooker,

I know from experience that leaving it plugged in ALL the time is the best way to kill your battery. Follow the advice in the link andreww posted and you'll be alright. I generally leave mine plugged in (with the battery in) when its on my desk, but I often like to work in rooms other than my office, so I use the battery fairly often. And every once in a while (coincidentally, today) I purposely drain the battery all the way and then plug it in to charge it fully.

Exactly! I never use my laptop plugged in. I usually never leave my laptops unplugged when not in use.
