2010 MacPro 5.1 finally upgraded

It has been years that i wanted to upgrade my good ol Macpro and i can tell you that thing is a beast.

it's new specs is now a dual 3.46 ghz X5690 intel cpu "delidded " , 12 core with 64 gig of ram with a RX 580 graphics card 8 gig.
I had to delid the cpu for clearance with the heat sink as i didn't want to temper to much with the connections and sensors and all.
I also bought a delid tool for the cpu and that was garbage. "NOT RECOMMENDED" but i did mine on a Vise in my shop. it worked perfectly well by being extra cautious not to damage the capacitor under the original heat sink

The only issue that i had "after reading and watching youtube videos about it" was that i had to upgrade my OSX to 10.13.x so the rx 580 could work. that card won't work under 10.10 or anything under 10.13.x. Once upgrade the OS? all went super nice.

Now if only i could find a way to play Unreal tournament 2004 under that 10.13.x. I miss playing that game

will soon buy some 4k monitor, but i am not in a rush for it.

Nice machine you got there!

Actually the RX 580 will work under 10.12.6, but it has better support with 10.13 and beyond.

I also have an upgraded MacPro, but it's a single processor model that I stuck a X5680 6-core into, as well as the RX 580. I got a steal of a deal on a second basic 4,1 and I use it solely for classic gaming under Snow Leopard. I originally bought it for spare parts, but then thought, hey! why not play some good old games on it. It works very well for that purpose.

Alright, after some testing and running High Sierra and later updated to Mohave, found some bug with Mohave. my graphics card would no longer update under Nvidia and had some weird graphic issues as i have 4 screens connected to my RX 580 and when it goes under the screensaver mode? it would automatically go on my HDMI screen as a main which is usually for my Gaming mode. "not good" and for some weird reasons even if i put my screen saver mode to "OFF" it is still going to Screensaver after 5 minutes.

BOOT ROM? still stuck at 138.0.0.0.0 no matter what i am doing? it simply won't go to 140.0.0.0.0 with my new NVME m2 SSD card. i found a site that would allow to flash my rom to boot to that drive, but won't do it until i do more research. So Mohave? as of now? is a NO NO on my machine, so i am back to High sierra and it has been running pretty strong so far
