Safari Mojave font nightmare

so i got myself a new laptop - migrated after a clean reformat and reinstall..

no safari has decided to have times roman as standard on a few sites...
anyone know how to remove that?
i have been playing with my font folder as well.. i hate when apple does stupid things like this.
just leave it alone.

I am using Mojave and do not have that issue. My advanced setting in Safari Prefs are shown below if that helps.

i am so pissed off - as most of my fonts now have conflicts.. makes me nuts.. been playing with all the extras they added.
apple removed the option to select fonts within safari..
i have been googling and seems i am not the first to complain about it..
if i figure it out i will post it..
it was VW forums that the fonts changed http://forums.vwvortex.com/forumdisp...5449-Atlas-SUV

Hmmm, the VW forum you posted the link too looks normal and very similar to ehMac on my MBP. Odd.

strangely my ehmac is unaffected.

If its such a "nightmare", why not switch to a different browser like Google Chrome that allows the user to change the font:
Google Chrome for Mac OSX – Changing fonts
https://www.accessibility.barclays.c...hanging-fonts/

But maybe the actual problem exists with your fonts as you stated - ...as most of my fonts now have conflicts...

Actually, I find it interesting in that I would have no idea what Font name a webpage was actually using. As long as it can be made large enough for me to read, that's good enough.

sites work with firefox but i prefer safari but thanks for the comedy routine of suggesting chrome lol

I shouldn't have to work so hard with safari to make it work - this fault falls directly on Apple, since firefox never changed.

I have a graphic design background so i know fonts when i see them, plus i support many design clients.. so i dont see just text on the screen i see the font and its style ..

Is it possible there is some sort of setting in the new Safari on your new laptop that maybe Apple changed or moved, that they seem to enjoy doing for some crazy sick reason with their "updates" and "new and improved" " features"???

BTW:
There seem to be a few other p'd off users as well when Googling the topic:
Safari Mojave font has decided to have times roman as standard on a few sites

Maybe check out some of the hits for a possible suggestion and fix. And maybe send your feedback to Apple as well. Maybe they might fix things but don't hold your breath.

And some people ask me and wonder why I'm still using Mavericks, and even it broke some stuff from Snow Leopard.

One would think each MacOS upgrade or update would improve things, not remove things!!! But that would be normal thinking and logic that doesn't seem to exist any longer.

Anyway, Happy Easter or Happy Passover or whatever it is you might celebrate.

Agreed, Patrick i would love to stay at 10.13 - it just worked lol
but as you said i was forced and not enjoying it. lol

Never understood why apple made changes to drive everyone nuts.. like changing the font and then having no choice to change it.. that is not an improvement

What do you use for font management? Adding fonts can cause serious problems if a font is bad and conflict occurs. I had to use a time machine backup once because I activated a font that messed up the UI of the OS. The VW website looked fine to me as well, definitely not Times Roman.

If you are adding and using a lot of fonts I would recommend some software beyond Apples FontBook. Personally I use Font Explorer Pro. I activate based on the job and it usually auto activates when I open the job. Only had issues when trying Apples FontBook. Font Explorer Pro will highlight bad fonts and not activate them.
