as for music, I still buy it as I don't do data so streaming when away from home is not happening. I buy the odd movie as well, usually older ones from the 40's to the 70's era.

I was googling just yesterday about iTunes and music etc. sales and many sites we're saying, and supported by some apple staff quotes, that such sales would be shutting down as of March 31 2019, but it all still seems to be available to me running Mavericks, but then, maybe they are still expecting me to at least buy my first purchased item from the iTunes Store!!! Sorry, it ain't gonna happen!!

Apple used to implement things that made life easier, now I dread what they have done now because they want us all to work their way and only their way. For years now Apple mail will not show the little attachment paperclip for email that is a POP account. Why? who knows, Apple themselves can give no answers with support other then reinstall. This does not work, and happens across multiple machines sharing this POP account. Sure iMAP is more modern, but for how we use this one email account in our office it would not work. Little things like this make Apple very frustrating with each and every update.

So true that some older OS upgrades used to actually provide improvements and have some good usable features!!

As for the missing paperclip problem, I had exactly that same missing paperclip problem with my mail POP3 accounts that I was finally able to fix and it's still working running Mavericks.

I'll have to do some digging to see if I cannot find the solution I used. If I recall, it was a little bit strange but it did work.

Remind me later if I don't get back to you with the suggestion/fix I used.

It may not work in more recent OS versions, as I read somewhere that Apple was no longer fully supporting POP3 email accounts with Mail macOS, but I find that a bit hard to believe.

But we all know that everything you can read on the internet is true eh??? ;-) ;-)

EDIT:
BTW: I use the Mail Classic View for my Mac Mail.app.

@wonderings

Maybe this can fix for your Mail attachment paperclip not showing.

Doing a google search on 'Mac Mail attachment paperclip missing' gets several hits:
https://www.google.com/search?safe=a...71.LUFDZz8Jb14

And the one here is similar to what I did and just might work to fix things for you:

How to Fix Mail Not Showing Attachments in Mac OS Sierra

EDIT:
HEY!!! I just found the solution that fixed the problem for me (and some others) that I posted to another forum that seems to have worked for some others as well.

You can read and see the method here in my #2 post that you should be able to access:
https://www.mac-forums.com/forums/ma...sted-mail.html

Hope that will fix things for you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think you offered some of those in a thread I made for this specific problem. If I remember correctly when I rebuilt my Mail it caused some other problems, cannot remember what but pretty sure I restored from time machine to the hour before doing that.

The rules option I had hoped would work but did not when I tried a while back. I have pretty much given up on it and have just gotten used to not having it.

Bummer.

Yes, it looks like we went through the same problem a few years ago:
https://www.ehmac.ca/mac-iphone-ipad...er-clip-2.html

Did you ever get it to work in Mail.app in any OS X version.

There must be a proper fix somewhere, or is that just wishful thinking???

But then again I'm a bit more persistent and stubborn than most users and probably waste way too much time trying to get things to work properly.

It used to work no problem, cannot remember what update killed it for me. Even on new computers with new installs it does not work. I have a MacBook Pro I bought last year, all fresh and clean install and same thing, no paperclip for attachments so I ruled out it being my specific computer.

Had the issue with 2 email providers as well. The company that hosts our website used to host our email, we switched the email hosting to Gmail and same thing.

Just to confirm:
No, Apple isnt killing iTunes music sales

Apple flatly denies a persistent rumor that its going to end iTunes music sales on March 31, 2019. The basis for the rumor is vague statement from an Apple Music executive and a change in way most people listen to songs.
... ...
Apparently, all this was enough for some people to believe an unconfirmed report that Apple plans to stop iTunes music sales at the end of the first quarter 2019. Supposedly, people would still be able to download already purchased songs.
But the British tabloid The Sun was able to get an Apple spokesperson to go on the record with a categorical denial: Its not true.

That doesnt mean its the end of rumors on this topic, though. Apple makes a habit of denying things right up until it announces them.

Lately I have been thinking that is the direction Apple will eventually go down. As much as I like owning my music I have been swayed by subscription services. I personally use Amazon Music Unlimited as my house is setup with Alexa. Really like it, just say what I want to listen to and it is there.

I can definitely see Apple down the road dropping individual sales of albums in favour of their streaming service. It might not be what people want but when has that ever stopped Apple? I do like purchasing albums still for small upcoming artists. I will support them with my purchases, not sure how they make any money if they are lumped in with a stream service like Apple Music or Amazon Music.

That's a good question, how they make any money...???

Remember, not too long ago, that the Canadian government stuck a levey (Not a tax LOL!!!) on blank CDs and DVDs with the excuse that would help pay the music artists for their work.

Well, I know several such local artists and each time I have asked them how much they got paid from the fund, none of them had received a penny and were told when ever they asked why, they weret told they were not popular enough!!! Go figure!!!

The real kicker was they often had to pay the tax on their own blank media to burn onto or have their music pressed on to the discs.

I have no idea how any music artist may get paid from any Streaming Service these days!!! But what ever it is, I'll bet it's a very small percentage, and probably the reason why it is so popular for those providing the service.

Like everything else, It all comes down to money!!!
